1. Who is responsible for your data
The controller of your personal data is TAEO Inc., a corporation incorporated in the State of Delaware, United States, with its registered office at 16192 Coastal Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, which operates the TAEO | EdTech app (https://app.taeo.tech) and the website https://taeo.tech.
For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, write to us at [email protected].
2. Who this policy applies to
It applies to adults who use the app (parents, guardians and other authorized adults), to the children whose information those adults enter, and to visitors of the taeo.tech website.
Children do not have accounts or use the app on their own. All information about a child is provided by an adult who represents that they are the child’s parent or legal guardian, or that they have their authorization. We do not collect data directly from children.
3. What data we process
About you, as the responsible adult:
- Your email address, which we use to identify you and send you your access code.
- Your first name.
- If you enable fingerprint or face sign-in (passkeys), the public key generated by your device. Your biometric data never leaves your phone and TAEO has no access to it.
- Technical session data needed to keep it secure, such as a session identifier and the sign-in date.
About your child, based on what you enter:
- Their name and date of birth, to calculate their age.
- Any diagnosed condition you tell us about (for example, autism, ADHD or prematurity). This is special-category data: we use it only to guide educational support and process it with your express consent.
- A photo, only if you choose to add one.
- Your answers to the questionnaire about their daily life, and the development map and levels that result from them.
- Their progress on the activity path: activities completed, their duration and rating, how the child was during the activity, streaks, achievements and badges.
- The Academy modules you have completed.
When you take part in live sessions:
- The questions you send through the chat, their category and the professional’s answer. In the session they are shown with a case alias (for example, «Caso #TAEO-…»), never with your name or your child’s name.
- Families do not appear on camera or use their microphone: they only receive the broadcast. Sessions are not recorded.
When you subscribe, Stripe, our payment processor, processes your payment and billing data (cardholder, card, country and charge history). TAEO does not receive or store your full card details and never sends your child’s data to Stripe.
4. How we use your data and on what legal basis
- To provide the Service: create and maintain your account, give you secure access, calculate the development map, suggest activities and record your child’s progress. Legal basis: performance of the contract you accept through the Terms and conditions.
- To process your child’s diagnosed condition and other sensitive data. Legal basis: your express consent as parent or guardian, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Support from professionals: authorized TAEO professionals may consult your child’s information to guide you and answer your questions. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
- To charge the subscription, issue receipts and handle refunds. Legal basis: performance of the contract and our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
- Service communications: your access code, account confirmation and important notices about the Service or these documents. Legal basis: performance of the contract. We do not send you advertising.
- Security and fraud prevention: protecting accounts, detecting unauthorized access and keeping minimal technical logs. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the Service secure.
- Improving educational content: analyzing aggregated or pseudonymized information to improve activities and methodology. Legal basis: our legitimate interest, always without identifying your family.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not build profiles for commercial purposes, and we do not make automated decisions that produce legal effects on you or your child. The development map is educational guidance, not a decision about any person.
5. Artificial intelligence tools
No artificial intelligence talks to families: the people who answer your questions in the app are always humans.
The TAEO team uses an internal analysis tool, used only by supervisors, that relies on an artificial intelligence model through the provider OpenRouter. Before sending any data, the tool pseudonymizes it: it only receives a case alias, age in months, development levels, questionnaire answers and a summary of recent activities. It never receives names, emails, photos or direct identifiers of your family.
6. Who we share data with
We do not sell or rent your data or your child’s data, and we do not share it with advertisers. It is shared only, to the extent necessary, with these providers that deliver services to us (processors), under confidentiality and security obligations:
- OVHcloud: servers where the app and its database run.
- Cloudflare: private file storage (images, audio and photos), content delivery and traffic protection, and hosting of the taeo.tech website.
- Resend: delivery of the emails with your access code and account confirmation.
- Stripe: processing of subscription payments.
- OpenRouter and the model provider it gives access to: internal analysis with pseudonymized data, as explained in section 5.
- Google: the app loads its fonts from Google Fonts and uses a public Google server to establish live session connections. These services receive technical data such as your IP address, but not your account data or your child’s data.
We may also disclose data when required by law or by a competent authority, to protect the safety of a child or any person, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, while keeping the protections of this policy.
7. International transfers
TAEO Inc. is a US company and its providers may store or process data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. When this happens, we require providers to offer appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or other mechanisms recognized by applicable law.
8. How long we keep data
- While your account is active, we keep your data and your child’s data to provide the Service and show you their progress history.
- If you request deletion of your account, within 30 days we will delete your data, your child’s data, their photo and the questions you sent through the chat.
- We will keep only what the law requires us to retain, such as charge and billing records, for the period required by tax and accounting rules, and aggregated or anonymized information that no longer identifies anyone.
- Temporary access data, such as emailed codes and failed attempts, is deleted automatically within minutes.
9. Your rights
Depending on the law that applies to you, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you and your child.
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delete your data and your child’s data.
- Object to processing or ask us to restrict it.
- Receive your data in a structured, commonly used format (portability).
- Withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise them, write to [email protected] from your account’s email address. We will reply within 30 days. We may ask for additional information to verify your identity and protect your family’s data.
If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you can file a complaint with the data protection or consumer protection authority in your country.
10. Children’s data
TAEO is designed for adults to support children, not for children to use on their own. We only process a child’s data provided by their parent, guardian or an adult with their authorization, and only to support the child’s learning.
A parent or guardian can review, correct or request deletion of their child’s data at any time by writing to [email protected]. If we discover that a child’s data was entered without the necessary authorization, we will delete it.
11. How we protect data
- All traffic between your device and TAEO is encrypted.
- Photos, activities and other app content are kept in private storage and shown only to signed-in users. There are no public links to them.
- Sign-in is passwordless, with a one-time code sent to your email or a passkey on your device. Each account can only have one active session at a time.
- Within TAEO, only authorized professionals access children’s information, and only to support families.
No system is completely infallible. If a security incident affecting your data occurs, we will inform you and notify the authorities where the law requires it.
12. Cookies and browser storage
The taeo.tech website uses no cookies, advertising, analytics or tracking tools.
The app uses only what is strictly necessary to work: it stores your session in the browser’s local storage and uses a short-lived technical cookie (15 minutes) to display images, audio and video securely. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will publish each new version on this page with its effective date and, if the changes are material, notify you by email or within the app before they take effect.
